Yellow Lounge: Daniel Hope

Last weeks Music Week Berlin brought up not only great street music, indie newcomers, rooftop unplugged’s (Auf den Dächern) and of course the Berlin Festival, but also one of Universal’s most recommendable classic music event: Yellow Lounge.

The concept of Yellow Lounge is to open young Berliner (and international) electro yuppie’s minds to the virtue of classical music. And it worked.
Usually Yellow Lounge Berlin makes you enjoy an orchestra at a venue like Berghain, however this time they chose the former embassy of Czechoslovakia to present Daniel Hope.

I did not know Daniel hope’s music before, but listened to a few of his ‚tracks‘ to get prepared and I must say even as a classical music virgin, I loved it.

He played only a few pieces, but it was breathtaking and the atmosphere in the rather crowded space was very special (familiar and warm in every regard 😉 ).

His performance included the popular song ‚I Giorni‚ known from the soundtrack of Intouchables and other works by New Yorker immigrant artists in the 1920s.
Also Max Richter recomposed versions with Daniel Hope are worth checking out!
